Oracle Secures 1.7 GW of Wind Energy for Texas AI Campus
Ten power purchase agreements across ERCOT will supply carbon-free electricity to Oracle's Abilene data center campus.
Oracle has signed ten wind energy supply agreements across Texas expected to deliver over 1.7 GW of carbon-free electricity to the Electric Reliability Council of Texas grid. The contracted power is dedicated to supporting operations at Oracle's flagship AI data center campus in Abilene. The massive procurement reflects how cloud providers are scrambling to secure utility-scale renewable power to match the soaring electricity consumption of hyperscale AI compute clusters.

The agreements span ten wind energy projects supplied by major renewable energy developers, including Clearway Energy, Engie North America, RWE, and Scout Clean Energy. Under a virtual Power Purchase Agreement with RWE, Oracle will offtake 433 MW from three operating wind farms in West Texas: Panther Creek I (142 MW), Panther Creek II (115.5 MW), and Panther Creek III (repowered to 215 MW) across Sterling, Howard, and Glasscock counties.
In addition, Oracle signed an agreement with Engie North America to offtake 568 MW of wind energy across a portfolio of Texas wind resources. Executive Vice President Mahesh Thiagarajan stated that the procurement aligns with Oracle's corporate goal to match 100 percent of its AI data center electricity consumption with carbon-free energy by 2035.
