Tech giant slashes data center water usage by 90% using closed-loop systems
Microsoft announced it has achieved its water-positive sustainability goal in fiscal year 2025, five years ahead of its original 2030 target. The milestone was driven by the deployment of AI-optimized data centers using advanced liquid cooling technologies that significantly reduce reliance on local freshwater supplies.

Beyond cooling, the company has scaled its use of alternative water sources. Its Singapore campus now relies on 99% recycled or non-potable water, while facilities in San Antonio and Quincy reach 79% and 74% respectively. New rainwater harvesting projects in Quebec are projected to capture 1.5 million liters per year.
